The Most Misunderstood Concept in Vedic Astrology
If there is one word in Vedic astrology that causes instant panic, it is "Manglik."
I cannot count how many times a perfectly happy woman has come to me in tears because some astrologer told her parents she has Mangal Dosha. They scared her with stories about failed marriages, sick husbands, and expensive rituals she needs to perform to "cure" herself.
It is the biggest piece of fearmongering in the entire astrological industry.
So let me, as a practicing Vedic astrologer, explain exactly what Manglik Dosha is, why it is completely misunderstood, and why having it does NOT mean your love life is cursed.
The Simple Math Behind Manglik Dosha
Manglik Dosha is not a curse. It is just a planetary placement.
You are considered Manglik when the planet Mars (Mangal) sits in specific houses in your birth chart: the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house.
That is it. That is the entire formula.
Mars is the planet of fire, energy, aggression, independence, and protection. When it sits in houses that govern your body, your family, or your partnerships, it brings a concentrated dose of fire into those areas.
Let me explain what this means for each house:
Mars in the 1st House: You have a strong, dominant personality. You are independent and assertive. You do not like being told what to do.
Mars in the 2nd House: You speak your mind. You can be blunt. You might have a temper when it comes to money or family matters.
Mars in the 4th House: You are protective of your home and family. You might have conflicts with your mother or in your domestic life.
Mars in the 7th House: You are passionate in relationships. You want equality. You will not tolerate disrespect from a partner.
